My E/X Griffon & Minotaur Solo Farming Build
My Elementalist was the first character I made when I bought this game and it is still my favorite class. I see lots of talk about other classes, mostly Monks and Warriors, solo farming. I don't hear much about Elementalists soloing. So, I decided to see what I could come up with. After quite a few deaths, a came up with a working build. I apologize in advance if this build is "old" and has been posted before but I didn't see anything about when I did a few searches.
My solo farming build uses only Elementalist skills and really doesnt require any pricey or special equipment.
I use Hydromancer's Droks Armor with a Galigords Stone Staff (green earth staff). The staff is not required as I farmed using the same build with my old air magic staff and it still worked. However, the improved recharge as well as the longer enchantment duration from the green staff help.
Attributes:
16 earth magic (12 base + 1 stone's eye + 3 sup. rune)
13 energy storage (12 base + 1 minor rune)
Skills:
1) Crystal Wave
2) Earthquake
3) Aftershock
4) Ward Against Melee
5) Armor of Earth
6) Earth Attunement
7) Elemental Attunement (Elite)
8) Aura of Restoration
With this build, even without the longer enchantments, you should be able to keep Ward Against Melee, Armor of Earth, Earth Attunement, and Aura of Restoration up at all times. Elemental Attunement has a 15 second down time before you can cast it again (this is lessened if you have a longer enchant mod on your weapon).
I start by casting Aura of Restoration -> Elemental Attunement -> Earth Attunement. Then, I usually round up two groups of griffons or minotaurs, around 5-7 enemies. I usually go with 5 in case some minotaurs patrol their way into range. As the mobs are closing in on you, cast Armor of Earth and then follow it with Ward against Melee. When you are surrounded, cast the Earthquake -> Aftershock combo. The griffons sometimes run away so wait until you are surrounded again, and cast Crystal Wave. By this time, Ward against Melee should be about to expire, recast it, and also recast Armor of Earth if you are getting low on health. With 80% energy gained back, this spell only costs 2 energy. One more Earthquake -> Aftershock combo should finish off the group. Sometimes, the mobs are left with a very small amout of health. A few shots from your wand should finish them off.
More than 7 enemies at once can get a little dicey at times. A string of hits through Ward Against Melee (which gives you 50% evasion) can still take your health down quite a bit even with Armor of Earth. You also don't have a spammable spell to regain health however I find that I usually always have a spell ready to cast if I need to get some health back quickly.
Make sure to stay away from the rockshots. They are much more trouble than they are worth.
Again, I apologize if this has been posted before. I hope the build can be useful to someone. Also, if anyone has any changes that they think would make the build better, feel free to post them.

i'll throw u a nice buildi just made up on the spot.
earthquake
aftershock
whirlwind/lightning touch.
armor of the earth
healing hands (elite)
healing breeze
mending
balthzars spirit
9 healing
16 earth
rest on energy and with air , just take anything u have left after filling energy.
I havn't tested but should go better.
not sure how many it will work on but healing hands will be a healing spike.
armor of the earth is good defence but your health will go down , u will have a 12 sec of healing hands then a 13 sec down. just got to stay alive in those 13 secs.
as for energy , balthzars spirit is my favourite skill in the whole game , u can spam away at breeze and the other spells with no need of attunment , so therefore u should have 10 health regen always.

I use a similar build:
16 Earth
15 Energy Storage
Crystal Wave
Earthquake
Aftershock
Ward Against Melee
Kinetic Armour
Magnetic Aura
Elemental Attunement
Same basic tactics. Kinetic Armour is refreshed every cast so stagger your casts (KA up, then WAM to refresh, etc). Use Crystal Wave first, then Earthquake, the Aftershock. The mobs then seem to scatter so refresh your WAM (and KA with it) while waiting for CW to come back online. Lather, rinse, repeat.
You might be able to manage energy a bit easier with Earth Attunement instead of Magnetic Aura; MA is a very handy last-ditch defense if needed though.

You guys are silly. Just use the Perm Mistform. Yes it's a bit slower, but you can avoid Rockshot with the one Water armor thingy that adds 33% running to it. If you cast it, then cast Serepent right before it finishes, then Mist you can run near the ressurection area. Wait, redo. You have just enough time to cast Armor of Frost or whatever that is, then Mist Form before Serpent runs out.
Keep an eye out for Rockshots tho, if you encounter any before you can cast (like just as it's about to die out) run away to a safe area and hope nothing is ther.e

The title of this thread is E/X and maybe if you could in some way fit the Mesmer skill Mantra of Concentration or whatever its called, (that one which makes you lose like 3-5 mana everytime you would get interrupted), into this build I think it would work okay against the rockshots unless theres a shitload of them, I don't think it would drain that much energy.

Earth Magic 16 (12+3+1)
Energy Storage 13 (10+3)
Healing Prayers 8
Glyph of Renewal
Crystal Wave
Healing Breeze
Armor of Earth
Aura of Restoration
Kinetic Armor
Mending
Balthazar's Spirit
This build can also be used on the Mountain Trolls NW of Droks (I Power Level people there all the time on my character). Always use Glyph of Renewal on Crystal Wave so you get a 212 damage spike every time. You may ask why i used Glyph/Crystal, when Aftershock/Whirlwind does more damage, but the latter of the two triggers the AoE code which can sometimes screw you. Just always keep Healing Breeze and Armor of Earth up. With 10 Health Regen, and Constant Energy, how can you die?

This is the build that I use to farm with my Geomancer
Earth 16
Energy 12
Air 7
Remainder 5
Essence Bond
Kinetic Armor
Armor of Earth
Aura of Restoration
Ether Renewal {E}
Whirlwind
Aftershock
Crystal Wave
The only way to die with this build farming is to lose kinetic armor...I use Galigords Staff 20% enchanting that gives Kinetic 10 seconds instead of 8. You can easily farm outside augury with this build. The most minos I've taken on with this is probably 10 or so...can't round up any more of them. 12 Griffs or so and 9 hydras. The funnest one to farm IMO are the mountain trolls. why, cause you can round up 14 of em and go to town.
The most import thing to remember here is that when your health is getting low cast ether renewal right before you have any 3 skills recharged. The 3 skills will give you 360 health or so and if you cast 4 skills when you are about to die then you are completely rehealed. I think you get a total of 120 health for AoE, AoR, Whirlwind, Aftershock and Crystal Wave gives you 180 health, plus you get the energy returns also of about 12 per skill i think.
This is not my build BTW...belongs to ensign.
I have on occasion dropped ether renewal to add Glymph of Renewal to double up crystal wave to kill faster BUT the mobs I take on can't be as large cause I can't self heal fast enough. Hum just got an idea, if it works I'll post the build tomorrow.

This is the build I use for farming trolls/griffons/ettin etc...
I use Geo armour
Hale Shadow Staff of enchanting (hp 25, 19% longer enchanments)
16 earth (12, +1 jewel, +3 rune)
13 nrg storage(12, +1 rune)
rest in healing prayers or whatever up to you...
skills
Stone daggers
Whirlwind
Aftershock
Armour of Earth
Mending (*)
Ether Renewal
Aura of Restoration
Earth Attunement
(*)Mending is optional. Not really needed. You could use Kinetic for more armour(unlike popular oppinion, I don't think it's a 'must'), or maybe Blessed Aura for 10% Enchantment boost. Whatever...
Anyway, what I have found farming with Eles is that sometimes a battle can take ages (9+ Ettin = long). You'll burn all your nrg fast! At least I do. With ether renewal however, you can perpetuate the situation for as long as you like.
1 nice thing about Aftershock. Ever since the AOE nerf. Enemy gets hit. Run away (ie. stop pounding on you ) then run back in. Great for a little breather.
don't worry about spending nrg, just light up the place. However, don't wait till you have next to zero nrg before you use Ether Renewal. I use it at around half-way get back to full, When I'm half-way again, look! It's recharged . Just make sure you maintain your enchantments. Recharge when ever you feel like over-zealously so even( don't worry about the nrg cost). With proper maintainance Nrg and Health gain is almost a joke. I get over 100 hp and around 20 nrg for each spell when I fire up Ether renewal. You can go on all night .
Note: Watch out for disrupting chop from the Trolls though. Can be nasty. Knock em' down, miss aftershock and do your maintainance. Or just use Mantra of Concentration instead of an enchantment. It'll cost you but you'll be a bit safer.
I'm sure there's more but that should be enough to get you started. Happy hunting...
